Scientific papers and research projects often hold great potential for innovative business models. To identify this potential early on and promote its transfer to the business world and society, Mainz University of Applied Sciences is a partner in the Young Entrepreneurs in Science (YES) initiative.
YES is an initiative funded by the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology, and Space (BMFTR). The goal is to show students and research staff entrepreneurial opportunities for their research and to support them in putting innovative ideas into practice. After all, research and entrepreneurship are not mutually exclusive—they can complement each other effectively.
Through interactive workshops and events, YES, together with its partner universities, provides methods and tools to identify and further develop the economic potential of scientific work.
On July 2, 2026, the workshop “Navigating Power Structures – Women Only” took place at Mainz University of Applied Sciences as part of the EXIST-Women program.
The next workshop, “From Research to Real-World Impact: Your Roadmap from Idea to Application,” will be held in person on November 25 and 26, 2026. Registration information will be published starting in September through the channels of Mainz University of Applied Sciences’ startup service.
Even beyond the workshops, the Mainz University of Applied Sciences’ Startup Service provides those interested in starting a business with individualized counseling and assists with applications for regional funding programs—from the initial idea through to the implementation of a startup project.
