The Equal Opportunity Officers
The Chief Equal Opportunity Officer, her deputy, and the equal opportunity officers in the academic departments are all points of contact for issues related to (sexual) harassment and discrimination in the workplace and on campus. The equal opportunity officers can also be contacted at any time regarding issues related to balancing family life with work or studies and the career advancement of women.
Psychological counseling for students
The services offered include:
- Individual counseling sessions to discuss your concerns, whether personal or related to your studies.
- Group sessions on various topics such as time management and study skills, stress management, relaxation, and more.
Counseling Services Offered by the KHG and ESG
KHG (Catholic University Community) and ESG (Evangelical Student Community) see themselves as churches at and for the universities in Mainz.
Collaboration with faculty and students at the universities is a key priority. For this reason, the universities in Mainz—alongside Johannes Gutenberg University—are a particular focus. These include the Catholic University of Applied Sciences on Saarstraße and Mainz University of Applied Sciences, with its campuses on Holzstraße, Wallstraße, and Lucy-Hillebrand-Straße.
KHG and ESG offer a diverse range of semester programs each semester, but above all, they provide personalized and individualized counseling.
Services include:
- Counseling and support (especially during difficult personal life situations)
- Interaction at a wide variety of events
- Education (cultural programs, workshops, etc.)
- Collaborations (with the AStA, student councils, students, and faculty)
Studierendenwerk Mainz
We offer psychosocial counseling, social counseling, and academic counseling in one-on-one sessions. Topic-specific discussion groups or study groups are announced at the beginning of each semester.
All sessions are voluntary and subject to confidentiality.
Mainz Women's Crisis Hotline
The Mainz Women’s Crisis Hotline provides counseling to women who are experiencing or have experienced sexual violence.
Services offered by the Mainz Women’s Crisis Hotline:
- Free counseling—anonymous if desired—by phone, in person, or online.
- You alone decide what to do next! The Women’s Crisis Hotline provides information and outlines possible steps.
- It doesn’t matter how long ago the assault took place or whether a report was filed—every woman has the right to support.
- If you wish, the Women’s Crisis Hotline will accompany you to the police and to court.
- The Women’s Crisis Hotline will help you find suitable therapists and attorneys.
- Your family members, friends, and partners can also seek advice from the Women’s Crisis Hotline.
