Digitale Kompetenzen für Selbstbestimmung und Mobilität stärken (DigiKoSMos)

The project "Digitale Kompetenzen für Selbstbestimmung und Mobilität stärken" (DigiKoSMos) is funded by the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund for the 2021 - 2027 funding period ((AMIF 2021 – 2027) and funds from the Rhineland-Palatinate Ministerium für Familie, Frauen, Kultur und Integration (MFFKI). The European Union and the MFFKI are financing the project, which is being carried out by the  WIMM research group led by Prof. Dr. Sven Pagel for the project period 01.07.2024 to 30.06.2027.

Project goals

The overarching objective of the project is to enable third-country nationals who are potentially interested in returning to develop digital skills and use them in a self-determined manner in order to increase their opportunities for professional and social (re-)integration worldwide.

The overarching objective is divided into the following categories.

Structural: Potential third-country nationals interested in returning home learn in a standardized infrastructure of classroom and online courses. They receive continuous support from trained staff.

Content: Potential third-country nationals interested in returning acquire digital skills in accordance with the European DigComp skills framework and develop specific skills in digital professional fields.

Methodology: Potential third-country nationals interested in returning learn in teaching and learning situations that are based on scientific findings and are continuously evaluated and further developed.

Focus on voluntary return: Third-country nationals who are potentially interested in returning are made aware of voluntary return and receive training in digital skills that make it easier for them to rebuild their lives after leaving the country, as well as advice and support services.

Project measures

The following project measures are planned:

In project measure 1 “DigiKoSMos in-person courses”, third-country nationals who are potentially interested in returning take part in face-to-face group courses to acquire relevant digital skills for professional and social (re-)integration worldwide.

In project measure 2 “DigiKoSMos online courses”, third-country nationals potentially interested in returning acquire digital skills and specific skills of digital professions for better professional and social (re-)integration worldwide through independent participation in online courses organized on a digital learning platform.

In project measure 3 “DigiKoSMos info meetings”, third-country nationals who are potentially interested in returning can regularly receive support from project staff in independently completing DigiKoSMos online courses and advice on digital issues. The information meetings also draw the attention of third-country nationals to the face-to-face and online courses and make it easier for them to get started.

The Project measure 4 “DigiKoSMos training packages” provides physical training packages containing target group-specific end devices, materials and methods that are used to carry out educational activities (face-to-face courses, online courses, individual workshops, etc.) to develop digital skills.

In project measure 5 “DigiKoSMos Research”, the DigiKoSMos project measures are scientifically evaluated and supplemented by accompanying research so that relevant research questions about the project, the objectives and the target group can be answered.
