In late February, nearly 30 bachelor’s and master’s students majoring in Geoinformatics and Surveying presented the results of their projects and theses from the 2021/22 winter semester. Once again, this highlighted the broad range of topics covered by this degree program. Topics ranged from project work on monitoring the condition of existing structures such as bridges to the analytical possibilities of point clouds for 3D interior modeling. In addition, the results of a project developed as part of the RAFVINIERT research project were presented . It focuses on spatial perception to identify mobility patterns specific to older adults.
A project by master’s students was carried out as part of the new collaboration between Mainz University of Applied Sciences and the Rhineland-Palatinate State Criminal Police Office. In this project, the students analyzed data to identify residential areas with an increased risk of burglary. Some of the results will be presented to the public—and especially to interested students—during Mainz University of Applied Sciences’ Open House on March 26.
