Students visit the ESA

On February 8, 2024, 15 students from the Construction and Property Managementt and Technical Property Management bachelor’s degree programs at Mainz University of Applied Sciences visited the European Space Agency (ESA) in Darmstadt accompanied by interim professor Andreas Dierking. During their visit, they explored technologies for building in space and the possibilities of colonizing new planets.

The students were given insight into the ESA’s technologies, which are not only relevant for space travel, but also for the construction industry, such as precision in monitoring of buildings. Important research on climate change and space farming was also introduced, opening up new perspectives for sustainable construction and agriculture.

This field trip not only offered practical insights into pioneering technologies, it also inspired reflection on their application in the fields of construction and property management. Mainz University of Applied Sciences looks forward to future opportunities to collaborate with the ESA.
