Double Degree – double opportunities for your future!

A double degree strengthens your global academic and professional outlook: with just one course of study, you can earn two academic degrees – one from your home university and one from an international partner university. To do so, you will spend an extended period studying abroad and gain valuable professional and intercultural experience

Double degrees are particularly highly regarded by employers, as they demonstrate both above-average motivation and strong international competence.

What you need to know about living in Mainz

Students should currently expect monthly living expenses of around € 900–1,000. The largest portion of this is rent, which ranges from € 350 to € 450 for a single room in a student residence operated by the Studierendenwerk. Your actual cost of living will of course depend on your personal needs and habits.

Our university has a cafeteria (Mensa) that is open during the lecture period from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. A meal there costs between € 2 and € 4.

The Studierendenwerk Mainz also offers free financial counseling for students, covering various options for financial support.

In addition, students at Mainz University of Applied Sciences can use the career platform JobTeaser to browse current job opportunities.

If you are looking for a room in a student residence, you can contact the Studierendenwerk Mainz. They also offer support in finding private accommodation.

In principle, you can apply for any of the housing facilities. Since not all room types are available in sufficient numbers, it’s best to indicate several residences or housing options in the “Residence Selection” section of the application form and rank them by priority. The Studierendenwerk will do its best to accommodate your preferences.

Rooms are allocated based on the order in which applications are received. If your application is successful, you will receive a rental contract from the Studierendenwerk, usually by email. You must sign the contract and return it to the Studierendenwerk. Once signed, the rental agreement is legally binding.

Students at Mainz University of Applied Sciences receive a high-coverage semester ticket, which is fully included in the semester fee. The semester ticket serves as a public transportation pass and is valid for one full semester. It can be used around the clock throughout the entire Rhein-Main Transport Association (RMV) and the Rhein-Nahe Transport Association (RNN). With this ticket, students can travel within the valid network on city and regional buses, trams, subways, S-Bahn trains, and regional trains (RB and RE).

Further information about the semester ticket from the General Students' Committee (AStA)
