Aptitude test (portfolio check)

for winter semester: June 1st
for summer semester: December 1st

Application process

The degree program has a two-step application process. In addition to participation in the aptitude test, you must also apply via the application portal and submit the required application documents.

Step 1: Aptitude PROCESS (portfolio review)

You must submit the following documents to the Office of Student Affairs by June 1 for the winter semester and by December 1 for the summer semeste:

  • application for participation in the aptitude test
  • chronological, complete and signed CV
  • portfolio with samples of your work (maximum size: DIN A1)

Send your portfolio together with the required documents to the following address (you may also hand in the folder personally):

It is not possible to submit your portfolio directly to the department.
If your portfolio is sent from outside of Germany, the package must be declared as a document shipment.

If your portfolio is evaluated as "passed", you will be invited to take the aptitude test.

StEP 2: Application Procedure

The application deadlines are as follows:

15 July for the winter semester 
15 January for the summer semester

If your portfolio has been rated as "passed", you will receive an invitation to the aptitude test on:

Thursday, 3 January  2019
Friday, 4 January 2019

We can offer you the following dates for the pick-up of your application portfolios:

Monday, 10.12.2018 to Thursday, 13.12.2018
from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, Room H3.02

Thursday, 03.01.2019 and Friday, 04.01.2019
1:00 to 2:00 pm, Room H3.02

Monday, 07.01.2019 to Thursday, 10.01.2019
9:00 am to 12:00 pm, Room H3.02

The portfolios will be picked up at Holzstraße 36 in Mainz.

Portfolios that are not picked up during these times can only be sent to you by regular mail. Please send a postage-paid DHL stamp up to 10 kg to the following address:

Portfolios that have not been picked up or requested by 30.06.2019 will be destroyed.

Portfolios can only be submitted to the

You are welcome to submit your portfolio in person starting at the beginning of November 2018 to the Office of Student Affairs in room A1.01 during our office hours or send it to us by post (please ensure that we receive your package by 30.11.2018 at the latest).

Special office hours for portfolio submission from 28.05. -01.06.2018:

Friday, 30.11.2018 rom 9 am to 12 pm and 1 - 3 pm

With reference to Section 31 (3) of the Administrative Procedure Act, the deadline for submitting a portfolio ends on 30 November 2018.

We will not accept any portfolios after 01.12.2018.
