Degree programs

  1. Degree programs with integrated vocational training (bachelor’s)
This type of program is a combination of a degree program with a bachelor’s degree and vocational training with an IHK/HWK (Chamber of Commerce and Industry/Chamber of Skilled Crafts) qualification or a vocational-technical school qualification. A general higher education entrance qualification or entrance qualification for universities of applied sciences is required for admission. In addition, a vocational training contract between the company and the student is expected as a prerequisite.
Throughout the degree program, vocational training is completed on a day-to-day basis at the company. The usual vocational school classes are streamlined and partially covered at the university. This ensures a good connection between theory in the degree program and practice at the company.
  2. Degree programs with integrated practical training (bachelor’s)
This educational pathway combines a bachelor's degree program with integrated practical phases. Prospective students do not need any prior vocational training or work experience. However, a general higher education entrance qualification or entrance qualification for universities of applied sciences is required. An employment or internship contract with a company is also required.
  3. On-the-job degree programs (bachelor’s and master’s)*
Here, a degree program is combined with working part-time. A completed vocational training qualification is a prerequisite for admission. In addition, applicants need a part-time employment contract with a company, where the work is performed on a day-to-day basis while studying at Mainz University of Applied Sciences.
  4. Part-time degree programs while working (master’s)*
Studying while working means independent study with accompanying classes in the evenings or on the weekends. A connection between your job and the degree program is not mandatory if you wish to study part-time.

*In Rhineland-Palatinate (in contrast to other German states), on-the-job degree programs (bachelor’s and master’s) are not grouped under the term “dual,” but they form an important part of the degree programs offered by Mainz University of Applied Sciences in collaboration with companies and as such are also presented here.
