Prof. Dr. Jörn Redler of Mainz University of Applied Sciences received the Best Paper Award at the 9th Conference on Business and Economic Development (ICBED). The award was given for his paper “Gen Z’s altruism and performance values link to private label preference: first evidence from a German drugstore sample,” which he co-authored with Prof. Dr. Joachim Hurth of Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences. Redler also received an award as Best Track Presenter.
“We were very impressed by the quality of the research,” emphasized the conference organizers. “It’s great that researchers are putting their findings out there for public scrutiny and taking constructive criticism and feedback on board,” the organizers added.
The presented study explores the connections between the changing value systems of future consumer generations and the acceptance and use of private-label brands. Among other things, the correlation between Generation Z’s altruistic attitudes and their assessment of the quality of private-label products was particularly striking. This phenomenon will now be examined in further studies.
The 9th ICBED was organized by the Center for Business & Economic Research (CBER) and Medgar Evers College of the City University of New York, USA, and took place from August 20–22, 2020. The Best Paper Award is presented by a panel of experts from the organizers for the best academic submission.
