Representatives for the Interests of People with Disabilities and Chronic Illnesses
The Representative Body for Severely Disabled Persons is elected by the university’s severely disabled and equivalent staff for a term of four years (SGB IX §177).
It represents their interests at the university and serves as the point of contact for all matters concerning employees with severe disabilities and those deemed equivalent, such as providing support during hiring processes, ensuring disability-accessible workplace equipment, and receiving suggestions and complaints, etc. In addition, the Representative Body for Severely Disabled Employees provides topic-specific advice and assistance, promotes integration, and actively works to combat discrimination against employees with disabilities (SGB IX §178).
In accordance with §179(7) of SGB IX, the Representative for Severely Disabled Employees is subject to a special duty of confidentiality. This duty of confidentiality remains in effect even after leaving office.
