Results of Internal Accreditation Procedures

All degree programs at Mainz University of Applied Sciences are continuously refined as part of the quality management system. The details are governed by Mainz University of Applied Sciences’ Quality Management Statutes for Academic Studies and Teaching . To date, the degree programs have undergone the program accreditation process to ensure an external review of the academic programs. As part of the institutional accreditation process, this format is being replaced at Mainz University of Applied Sciences by degree program reports and internal accreditation involving external experts.

As a complementary process, all so-called degree program reports must be prepared, in which the current situation within the degree program is analyzed based on a dataset and survey results. It is important to note that, within this framework, guideline-based discussions with students and faculty are also conducted. In a concluding discussion, any needs for adjustment are identified, and the program describes how it will address them. A review of these points takes place during the next reporting cycle.

Once the last program report cycle has been completed, an internal reaccreditation process takes place, involving external professors, industry representatives, and external students. During this process, the internal and external requirements for program design are reviewed using guiding questions. In particular, the criteria of the State Ordinance on Program Accreditation are incorporated into this process. The State Ordinance on Program Accreditation was amended as of August 1, 2025, by the First State Ordinance Amending the State Ordinance on Program Accreditation; the amended regulations apply to procedures beginning on that date. The documents submitted by the degree program are discussed on the day of the site visit with an internal accreditation commission composed of internal and external members. The result is forwarded in the form of a final report to the Senate Committee on Accreditation, which makes the accreditation decision on this basis. Below you will find a list of all previous accreditation decisions made under this procedure, including a summary of the conditions and recommendations issued for the respective degree program.
