2026 Election Year
Every four years, the representative for persons with severe disabilities and their alternate are re-elected.
At Mainz University of Applied Sciences, in accordance with Section 177(6), Sentence 3 of SGB IX, this is done through a simplified procedure; the next election period is from October 1 to November 30, 2026.
Who is eligible to vote?
All university employees with a severe disability (GdB of 50 or higher) as well as persons deemed equivalent (GdB of 30 or higher) who are registered in the voter registry are eligible to vote.
Please feel free to contact the Human Resources Department to find out if you are already registered or to report a severe disability (if applicable, please also remember to extend a temporary certification of severe disability).
The current representative body for employees with severe disabilities will send out an invitation to the election meeting.
Who is eligible to run for office?
The representative for employees with severe disabilities does not have to have a severe disability or be considered equivalent to having one. All adult employees of the university are eligible to run for this position
As a representative for employees with severe disabilities, you play a vital role in fostering a culture of respect where all employees can work in a largely barrier-free environment and have a point of contact for their concerns. The representative for employees with severe disabilities is present at all job interviews, hiring procedures, and specific counseling sessions. Their responsibilities include, among other things, informing employees with severe disabilities about their specific rights (e.g., protection against termination, special leave) and promoting their participation.
Time off from work or a reduction in working hours is generally possible.
Are you interested in serving as the representative for employees with severe disabilities or as a deputy? If so, please feel free to contact Heinz Stemann.
