DigiMuBi – Digital Music Education
DigiMuBi (“Digital Music Education”) is a cooperative doctoral research project between Hochschule Mainz, Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz and the Mainz-based music publisher Schott Music. The project focuses on the role of digital tools and learning formats in modern music education and investigates how digital technologies can complement and enrich existing approaches to learning music and playing instruments.
The project examines different teaching and learning methods as well as digital elements and tools used in music education. It considers the conditions and requirements for digital music learning and investigates how learners and teachers use and perceive digital methods in educational practice. In addition, the project looks at the acceptance of digital learning formats and the needs of those involved in music education.
DigiMuBi also considers the economic and social aspects of digital music education. By bringing together perspectives from media education, computer science education and media management, the project takes a broader view of how digital learning formats can be designed and implemented effectively.
A key objective of the project is to identify how digital elements and formats can create new opportunities for music education. The findings are intended to provide practical recommendations for the development of effective digital learning formats and to support the development of innovative approaches that benefit both learners and teachers.
Funding
DigiMuBi is funded through the “InnoProm – Innovation und Promotion” programme of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate. The programme supports application- and practice-oriented doctoral projects that contribute to concrete innovation in companies and helps connect research-based knowledge with practical and entrepreneurial needs.
