Digital Corporate Communications Benchmark 2025
The Study
The “Digital Corporate Communications Benchmark” study by RYZE Digital, in collaboration with Mainz University of Applied Sciences (WIMM Research Group), has been successfully completed. The study examined the level of digitalization in corporate communications at Germany’s 90 largest publicly traded companies (DAX 40 + MDAX).
The focus was on the use and design of digital communication channels, particularly corporate websites and relevant social media platforms such as LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok. The study was based on a mixed-methods approach that combined quantitative analyses using a categorization scheme of 96 items with qualitative expert interviews with executives from the fields of corporate communications and investor relations.
Results
The results show that the digitalization of corporate communications is generally at a solid level, but there are still significant differences among the areas examined: employer branding, recruiting, public relations, investor relations, and CSR and sustainability communications. There is a particular need for improvement in the areas of interaction, process automation, and accessibility.
“Through targeted measures, companies will be able to stand out even more clearly from the crowd in the future,” is a key conclusion of the study. The outlook also makes it clear that strategic investments in digital infrastructure, processes, and communication formats are crucial for modernizing corporate communications in the long term and differentiating them sustainably.
